YAMAHA CFX PIANOS HELP QUEEN ELISABETH MUSIC CHAPEL CELEBRATE 75 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE
Performers and Organisers praised the performance of the piano
The Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels, Belgium was founded in 1939 by Queen Elisabeth. It remains under the Honorary Chairmanship of HM Queen Paola and offers exceptional learning and music experiences to young musicians from around the world.
On 28th January this year the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel hosted a spectacular Gala Concert to launch its 75th anniversary festivities. The concert honoured the great composer and violinist Eugène Ysaÿe, who initiated the Music Chapel with Queen Elisabeth. Vivaldi Mozart and Schubert were also honoured with inspiring performances for two cellos, two pianos, two violins and piano and voice from masters in residence and young students.
This combination of masters and students superbly illustrated the Music Chapel's unique founding principal of compagnonnage. Star performers on the evening included Maria Joao Pires, Gary Hoffman, Liya Petrova, Hrachya Avanesyan, Julien Brocal and Alexandra Orlowska. The performers were expertly accompanied by the renowned Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie – a loyal partner of the Music Chapel – conducted by Augustin Dumay (a master in residence).
As one of the most important events in the 75-year history of the Music Chapel, the choice of piano was vital, and Yamaha was honoured to have been selected as the piano partner, providing a CFX and technical support for the gala event. The performers and organisers praised the performance of the piano stating that the sound projection was perfect for the venue size, and that the tonal qualities were exceptionally colourful and ideally suited the programme.
