Thorsten Skringer: "I want nothing else but to improvise!"
We visited Yamaha artist Thorsten Skringer at a performance of the Yamaha Allstars at Wolfgangsee, Austria. Thorsten gave us an insight into his life as an internationally known saxophonist and talked about his stage experience, hobbies, family, stage fright and of course improvised music.

Thorsten Skringer graduated from the "Neue Jazz Schule München" in 1995 and since then has been constantly involved in the soul, pop and jazz scene in Germany. As a founding member of the band "Soul Kitchen" he has performed all over Europe, Russia and China and has marked a number of other projects with his "Big sound". After winning the Yamaha Europe Sax Contest in 2003, he started his solo career. Since 2009, Thorsten has been a member of the TV Total show band "Heavytones".
Thorsten is also a sought-after lecturer active throughout Europe and has already published three textbooks. Several times a year, he also hosts the saxophone bootcamp at Berggasthof Hochstein in the Bavarian Forest, which is run by his family.
